Sri. K N Balagopal

Sri. K N Balagopal was born at Kalanjoor, Pathanamthitta District on 28th July 1963 as the son of Sri. P K Narayana Panicker and Smt. O V Radhamany Amma. He had his school education at Pop Pius IX High School, Bharanikavu, Kollam. He had his B Com and M Com Degrees from University of Kerala and secured his LLB and LLM from Kerala Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram.

Sri. K N Balagopal entered public life through the Students Federation of India and held the post of National President of the federation. During this period, he was a member of the Student Syndicate and Student Senate of the University of Kerala. Later, he was the All India Joint Secretary of the Democratic Youth Federation of India. He was a Syndicate member of the University of Kerala during 2000-2004.

During his tenure in Rajya Sabha from April 2010 to April 2016, he was a member of several committees, including the Committee on Commerce (April 2010 - May 2014), Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (May 2012 onwards), and the Court of Aligarh Muslim University (May 2012 to September 2014). He also served on the Select Committee of Rajya Sabha on the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill (2011), the Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture (October 2014 onwards), and the Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament (December 2014 to February 2015). Additionally, he was a member of the Rubber Board from September 2014 until his retirement on 2nd April 2016.

During 2006 to 2010, Sri. K N Balagopal served as the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sri. V S Achuthanandan. Presently, he is the member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Kottarakkara constituency.
